J.S. Mosby Antiques & Artifacts was founded in 1998 by U.S. military historian, author, and publisher Stephen W. Sylvia. A collector since childhood and a relic hunter since 1970, Mr. Sylvia has enjoyed a life-long fascination and study of Civil War artifacts.

A journalist by trade he began writing about American militaria in the 1970s and has authored and co-authored a number of acclaimed reference books dealing with military artifacts: The Illustrated History of American Civil War Relics, Civil War Canteens, Civil War Reenactments, World War II G.I., Guns of Grenada, Manassas Commemorative, and Groundbreakers.

He is publisher of the award-winning North South Trader's Civil War magazine and the Civil War Collector's Price Guide. He has been an historical consultant on a variety of television shows and Hollywood films. He also appeared as an appraiser on PBS' Antiques Roadshow.

J.S. Mosby Antiques & Artifacts carries an impressive array of military collectibles from the Revolutionary War through WW II specializing in the Civil War. The shop also stocks a wide variety of American antiques of all kinds--furniture, accessories, coins and currency, glass, tools, reference books, art prints, and general antiquities.
