Here is a field-made lead 5th Corps Badge excavated on the Wilderness Battlefield years ago. It was worn by a soldier in the 1st Division and retains much of its original red paint. The relic hunter applied a spot of glue in the center of the back to either strengthen or restore the connectivity of the piece but nothing has been added or replaced. It is missing the attachment pin that had been applied on the reverse which may account for its initial loss by the soldier. The relic measures 36.5mm x 38mm (1 7/16" x 1 1/2 "). Unique recovery!
