This is a great relic from the 1864 Battle of Cedar Creek, also known as Belle Grove. This was the battle that earned "Little Phil" Sheridan lasting fame for his famous ride across the crumbling Federal front lines rallying the retreating Yankee army and turning defeat into victory. This plate was recovered by Dr. Lord decades ago and is marked "Cedar Creek / Belle Grove House" on tape glued to the reverse. The buckle is intact with arrow hook attachment device still solid. Lead reverse sound. The rim shows the ripples of hard campaigning but has not compromised the integrity of the relic.
