This has long been identified by leading authorities Alphaeus Albert and
Warren Tice in their monumental studies as a Mississippi Militia button
probably manufactured by Casimir Rouyer of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Intact with traces of original gilding visible on reverse. This was
found in the camp of the 19th Mississippi Regiment near Fredericksburg /
Spotsylvania.
