This style spur was dubbed the Brandy Station spur because so many were recovered from the Brandy Station battlefield by early collectors that it earned that convenient identification. Crouch ascribed the official designation CS 2 in his pioneer study. This spur is also believed to be a product of Richmond, most likely Tredegar. Unlike the CS 1 this style is lighter weight, beveled strap plate corners, and has more sophisticated finishing qualities. The circular necks exhibit shallow lathe ring(s) and a machined or lathe turned base. Rowels are usually iron but copper has been noted.
This particular spur was also recovered from the Brandy Station battlefield. Part of its iron rowel is still present.
