US Model 1857 Cartridge Box

Here is a US Model 1857 cartridge box for .58 calibre rounds. It has an overall pleasing appearance with good supple leather throughout. Outer flap, interior flap, box body, waist belt loops, shoulder belt loops, interior pouch, and original tins are all very good. Interior flap has two sets of initials "JW" and "AW" scratched deep in the leather by soldier owners. Finial, roller buckles, shoulder belt and plate are missing. Latch tab is missing lower half. It appears that the shoulder belt was removed long ago, very possibly during the war.
