Ninth plate cased ambrotype of Pvt. Nathaniel Bright, Co. F, 16th New Hampshire Volunteers. During the course of Bright's service he was a member of the 16th regiment and fought in Battle at Port zhudson and Butte-a-la-Rose. After mustering out he reenlisted in Co. K, 18th regiment and served as a corporal during the Siege of Petersburg, Virginia. He mustered out in May, 1865. This early war image shows 30-year-old Bright in his newly issued state militia uniform with unit designation prominently displayed on his forage cap. His name was penciled in the paper backing behind the image. Case is undamaged, functional, and intact also. Nice identified image of a Yankee who served in both western and eastern theatres of war.
