Federal fuze pouch

Standard Federal issue artillery fuze pouch made by Watervliet Arsenal. This one is in excellent condition except for the end piece of the latch tab. Front flap shows some localized surface scarring. Stitching is great and leather is supple. The fuze box was not designed for a cartridge box plate but this example has one. The plate was double-stamped, a cool side benefit. Who and when it was attached is a mystery--soldier, Bannermans, post-war collector? All we can be sure of is that it was applied a long time ago. It was attached the same way plates were put on cartridge boxes with a piece of rawhide threaded through the loops on the reverse side of the flap.
