Great CDV of Matthew Fontaine Maury and signed note by him. The note reads "National Observatory / 4 Nov. 1857 / My dear Sir, I am happy to add to your collection. Yours truly, M.F. Maury..." The carte de visite bears the imprint of the Monumental Photograph Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Nicely framed piece of history.
