US Waist Belt Plate
Item #: LD 225
This US waist belt plate is "rough as a cob" but its scars speak well for the experiences of the soldier who wore it. The left edge appears to have been stepped on by something heavy--perhaps a horse. The patina on both the brass face and the lead reverse suggests time in very moist soil, maybe a creek bed. Dr. Lord recovered this plate from a site at Strasburg, Virginia.
