Model 1845 French clairon infantry bugle of the identical type imported during the Civil War by Meigs in 1861. The Model 1845 was in service for decades after its first issue to French troops. This example is dated 1900. This large bugle saw a lot of use but is not impaired and still plays. It measures 21 3/4" by 6" and adds a nice touch to a Civil War display. From the collection of noted bugle collector and author Chris Nelson.
