These are getting more and more scarce. This one is complete with good bag and sling, mask, can, card and string. The hose is broken and, like most, the mask is brittle but complete. Inked on the reverse is "-Cook-" followed by "Charles R. Thompson / Co. M. 9th Infantry 2nd Div / No 1627409." The 9th infantry regiment earned the nickname "The Manchus" as a result of its combat in Manchuria during the Boxer Rebellion. In WW I they distinguished themselves at the Battle of Lorraine, Aisne Marne, St. Mihiel, and the Meuse Argonne. The regiment was awarded the fourragere in the colors of the Croix de Guerre for their valor in France. A courageous and valiant regiment. This is a nice piece of history!
