This is an excellent pair of Model 1911 US cavalry nickel silver spurs. These were made by the August Buermann Manufacturing Company of Newark, New Jersey. Records of Buermann's production date back to 1842. During the Civil War Buermann was noted as a manufacturer of a great variety of saddlery hardware. By the early 20th century Buermann was one of the largest manufacturers of horse equipments in the country and he issued extensive catalogs of his wares. His stamp "A.B." and "U.S." appear in the rear of the heel of this pair of his spurs. This pair was pictured in Howard Crouch's "Historic American Spurs."
